DAY 7: The Marshall Brothers - Mr. Santa Boogie

Good morning Day 7..!

Today, another sweet R&B track, delivered to us by The Marshall Brothers.. They are linked to The Ravens & The Ink Spots.. This one's a toe tapper that has been on a few different comps, including the one above, one of my favorites: "Papa Ain't No Santa Claus, Mama Ain't No Christmas Tree"

ENJOY!

DAY 6: Bobbie & Boobie - Cool Cool Christmas

HELLO Day 6...!

Today, a fine R&B gem, a la "Bobby & Boobie"...aka, Bobby Nunn, who was one of the original Coasters.. Other than that, I don't know anything else about this tune except it was on this "Christmas Ville USA" comp.

It snowed last night..! Which made me remember, December is COLD. But why be COLD, when you can be COOL...????

DAY 5: Wild Billy Childish & The Musicians of the British Empire - Dear Santa Claus

Day 5... here we have a sweet track off the Billy Childish "Christmas 1979" album..

This song is actually sung by Billy's wife, aka "Nurse Julie", also the bass player in this band.. I don't know much about her.. She played in an all girl band called the A-Lines, who put out a record back in '03..

DAY 4: Sugar Chile Robinson - Christmas Boogie

OMG I love this song. Frank "Sugar Chile" Robinson, born in 1938 in Detroit, became a piano virtuoso at about age 5.. There's some great, old cool newsreel footage and a lot of other stuff with him on youtube.. Later in his life he would eventually give up music for acamdemia, becoming a psychologist.

This was recorded in 1950 (c/w 'Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer') ... Good luck finding it.

me & my mom love dancin 'round the tree to this!

ENJOY!

This is from a sweet blues comp, "Blues, Blues Christmas (1925 - 1955)" ... highly recommended.

DAY 2: The Lickity-Splits - You Set My Christmas Tree on Fire

THIS is a great tune. I don't know much about The Lickity-Splits.. This song was recorded for a Suburban Sprawl x-mas comp in 2006.

I am not sure if they ever got this out on vinyl. If not, they really should..! If you like "shoo-wops" and old rock & rolly piano, you will dig this. Enjoy!

DAY 1: The Swingin' Neckbreakers - Santa Claus Ain't Comin' This Year

OKAY.. First, the bad news. Santa Claus Ain't Comin This Year. At least, that's what THE SWINGIN' NECKBREAKERS are here to say.

Lucky for you, you're going to be getting FREE, awesome music from ME for the next 25 days. I don't even care if you been naughty. In fact, I prefer it.

These guys are just killer, balls out garage. The song comes from a special x-mas 45 they put out in 1999:

We actually played a show with these guys, back in July of '07 as part of the TRASHFEST at the Abbey Lounge (RIP)... :

This was one of our 1st few shows... There was free beer for the entire hour leading right up until when we were supposed to play. Needless to say, we got wasted. We played a really shitty, sloppy set, and I believe this is the (first) time we broke up on stage. I don't remember staying for the end of the show to see the Neckbreakers...

anyways. listen to it and/or download here:
